Lofoten Links, Norway and Golf du Médoc have joined The Cabot Collection, the Canadian developer of luxury golf destinations.

Cabot is renowned for operating exceptional golf resorts around the world, and its financial investment in Lofoten Links comes just weeks after the acquisition of the Médoc golf course, now known as Cabot Bordeaux.

Lofoten Cabot and Bordeaux Cabot now join Cabot Saint Lucia in the Caribbean, Cabot Revelstok in British Columbia, Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida, Cabot Highlands in Scotland and Cabot Cape Breton in Nova Scotia in the Cabot stable. Each distinct entity boasts a renowned golf course, luxury accommodation and catering.

Lofoten is home to an 18-hole golf course, Nordic-style lodges and a restaurant, located on the island of Gimsøya in Lofoten, north of the Arctic Circle. It's a unique experience where golfers can play 24 hours a day from May to July, and resort guests can watch the Northern Lights - the breathtaking light show of the Aurora Borealis - from August to March.

Cabot's financial investment in the Lofoten Islands is set to increase over time, and may include a second golf course, just as Cabot Highlands in Scotland did with the renowned architect Tom Doak. As at Cabot Bordeaux, Cabot's investment should initially refine the existing golf + hotel offering, with progressive improvements at all levels: quality of service, quality of the spa, quality of the catering offer. All this will progress over the months and years, but the foundations are already very solid. As a reminder, the Golf du Médoc hotel will be completely refurbished in 2021. The rooms are of very high quality, with the MGallery label, which is a major brand in the Accor group's Luxury division.

Lofoten: an extraordinary golf course

Lofoten is the world's most northerly links golf course, offering breathtaking views of the countryside. From late May to mid-July, the sun never sets, making Lofoten Links one of the few courses in the world to offer round-the-clock golf.

Expanded to 18 holes by course designer Jeremy Turner in 2015, Lofoten's 6,662-meter par 71 course offers 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains, ocean and nearby islands. The sea is a water hazard on several holes and the sandy beach, coves and granite boulders act as natural bunkers and the par 3 2nd hole has become one of the most photographed holes in the world, a magnificent 140-meter challenge with a two-tiered green that sits on a rocky outcrop preceded by a bunker. For pure adventure, with sea eagles flying overhead, playing golf in such an unspoilt and secluded location makes for an extraordinary experience. The resort also offers activities such as horseback riding, hiking and kayaking.

Accommodation and catering

Lofoten Links offers guests comfortable accommodation in Nordic-style lodges close to Hov beach, perfect for a summer or winter adventure. As the lodges face north towards the Norwegian Sea, guests can enjoy views of the midnight sun from May to July and the northern lights from late August to late March from the terrace. There are Standard Deluxe Lodges for two to six people, with three bedrooms and en-suite bathroom, shared common area and fully equipped kitchen, and Multi-Bedroom Standard Deluxe Lodges, perfect for families and large groups, some with a hot tub on the terrace.

Just a few steps from the lodges is the Låven restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner based on local ingredients in a rustic barn.
